It is not meant as a thermometer, but rather as a temperature limit sensor, notifying you when the area it covers crosses a programmed threshold. To increase the temperature limit or use outdoors, you can attach the PGtemp-probe.

The PG9905 is a wireless PowerG temperature detector that can be used both indoors and outdoors for monitoring the temperature of any given area. If you would like to monitor the outdoor temperature or the temperature of a freezer then a waterproof temperature probe is used. You can use this in circumstances where monitoring temperature can be critical such as: 

• Activating and deactivating pipe heaters at locations where low temperatures may cause the water pipes to freeze.
• Warn of possible electrical device malfunction due to high or low-temperature levels
• Alerting elderly people of a significant rise or drop in room temperature
